Too cute for you.

We're headed to TX in a few days so here's a hodge podge of pictures because I don't know if I'll have to update before we go, or while we're there.

Matey getting into things now that he can stand all on his own.

Playing with his train that he got for Easter (which will be coming with us to TX).

Eating dead grass because it made his Mommy say "No! No! No!"

Thinking about maybe not eating the grass... or maybe as soon as Mommy looks away...

I think that Matey had just sat down from standing as I shot this, so it's not really as impressive as I had intended.

So if you don't hear from us for a while no worries- we're not dead, just in TX. And Aunt Beki has managed to survive so we think we will too.

Love for thePirate.

bwah, bwah bwah bwah. Yeah thats right: Chicken!

This is the house that An Wanna built. It's for her chickens (whom Matey adores) so before we took it outside for the birds to live in we let Matey play in it a bit.

As well as play on top of it...

He really liked climbing up the incline on the roof

for some reason he found it easier than when crawling on flat ground.

I think he would make a fabulous chicken, don't you?

Obsession for Men. By Matey

Matey has had a long fascination with cords: computer, printer, phone chargers, VCR, DVD player... anything with a cord is good as long as the cord fits in his mouth.

This is where I left before going to the bathroom. I figured he'd stay put seeing as how he had a huge cord to love on.

This is where he was when I got out. It's only 5-6 feet away but I was still surprised, mostly that he picked a box over the cord. Apparently he could just sense that the box was full of all sorts of lengths of cords, which was way cooler than the big cord.

And yes, he is on his feet. It's a regular thing now.

Love for thePirate.

ps. Matey now has two more teeth now- bringing the count up to 4.

Living up to his name: Matey at the helm.

This is Matey and his boat!

He thinks this is the best toy since power cords!

It's even so interesting Matey will pay it more attention than the camera.

And this is a video of him in his boat.

You see how he bounces? Yeah, he does that when he's happy/excited. Even if your holding him or have him on your neck or handing him off... it's so much fun!

Video Evidence

There's no need for sound; Grammy was on the phone for work so I couldn't talk and Matey was being a good little boy (i.e. quiet) for Grammy. If you can't tell whats going on: Matey got to where the video starts all by himself, he's on his knees and then pulls himself up and is standing. Normally after standing he tries walking but there was so much fun stuff he didn't feel the need to go anywhere.

My baby got his first bruise! (it won't photograph) It's so sad! I'm a bad Mommy now... *sniff*

We love you all (especially thePirate).

hitting milestones all over the place

Matey has always been a stander- since 3 months old he prefers to stand over sitting, on his back, or on his stomach and for a while now (a month or so) he's been able to stand while holding on to something without anyone supporting him. but today he figured out how to pull himself up into a standing position and then grab the chicken off of Mommy's plate.

This morning he had pulled himself up from crawling on the floor to trying to crawl in the dishwasher, and while I was impressed with him its only a 6 inch gap between the floor and dishwasher lid (when the door is open) and I was more concerned with him pulling out the bottom rack (which he successfully did as I picked him up because I hadn't realized he had grabbed hold of it again). But this evening I was sitting on the floor with my plate on the ottoman feeding Matey occasional pieces of potato when all of the sudden his face rises over the edge of the ottoman and his hand grabs the chicken off of my plate.

Now he was on his stomach and the top of the ottoman is like 2+ feet off of the ground and all by himself he managed to haul himself up. (I rescued the chicken before he dropped it on the ground, he will hold on to food and bring his hand to his mouth but 95% of the time he eats his hand and not the food)

So I'm just bragging that my baby (your grandson, nephew, whatever) is amazing and ahead of his time ( I checked and most kids can't till like 8 or 9 months meaning he's a month or two ahead).

Matey is still wobbly on his feet and falls over when standing unattended but its usually when he tries to walk over to something, when he stands still he stays up for much longer. And he lets go! Which gives his Mommy heart attacks. He'll be holding on to something (me, the chair, the ottoman) let go with one hand completely and then will hover his remaining hand over whatever it is and quickly drop it back down when he starts to shake.

He's always trying to outdo himself and when he doesn't drop his hand back soon enough and falls over and bonks his head he is HIGHLY upset at me. Oh well.

We still love him.

i want one...

Little Matey with his booty. He Loved the lollipop and was sad I wouldn't let him eat the whole thing.

This is el diablo getting candy from the nice man.

Matey really wasn't sure what the heck was going on and found it annoying that people kept ringing the doorbell at our house just to stare at him while Mommy gave away all his candy. Then once it was his turn he was still a little confused for the first couple houses on why people were now giving him candy but when it became apparent that no one was really going to touch him and that we were going to be outside for a bit he got into the spirit of things and had fun.

What a cute little chugga mugga.

This is the cat that I could have if some people weren't allergic (and if the lease allowed it).

I want a kitty! I really do. They're so cute and fuzzy and it would give me something to play with, right now I just sit around all day long and that is SO boring.
